(June 19)This is AP Campaign Minute Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he’ll bypass the federal public financing system in the general election. Obama has earlier said he would take the roughly 84-million, if his Republican rival did as well. He’ll be the first candidate to do so since Congress passed the camapaign finance laws in the 70s. Obama has shattered president campaign fundraising records, raking in more than $265 million as of the end of April. McCain, on the other hand had raised nearly $115 million by the end of May, Republican John McCain toured flood-damaged southeastern Iowa on Thursday. McCain walked past half-submerged buildings, washed-out roads and thousands of sandbags. McCain told residents the government would do everything necessary to help them rebuild their lives. Obama has unveiled his first television ad of the general election campaign. The 60-second biographical piece is set to air in 18-states and is called “country I love” McCain’s wife Cindy is visiting Vietnam. Where there she criticized Mynmar’s military junta –and vowed to improve human rights there is she becomes the next first lady.
