The Milkman

Every morning before seven, Sheffield Farms and Borden’s delivered milk and cream door-to-door in horse-drawn carts. At first the wheels on the carts had metal rims and the horses had metal shoes that made a clip-clop sound as they came down the street. Somebody must have complained so they began putting rubber wheels on the carts and then rubber shoes on the horses. After that they changed to electric trucks.
